Bethany is currently an undergraduate student at the Royal Northern College of Music studying classical music performance under the tuition of tenor horn virtuoso, Owen Farr.

Bethany was appointed Solo Horn with Wardle Anderson Brass and has been involved with the RNCM brass band during the past year of her studies, under the baton of Dr David Thornton, Prof David King, and Prof James Gourlay, performing in concerts at the Regent Hall in London and RNCM’s own brass band festival.

At the age of 9, Bethany started on the trumpet when she joined the Doncaster Danum Scout Band and regularly took part in marching competitions all over the UK. She has been involved in many of the Doncaster Schools Music Service ensembles, gaining the Principal Trumpet position of the Vermuyden Concert Band, Senior Brass Group and Beechfield Youth Orchestra from 2015-2018. In 2017, she also became principal trumpet in the McAuley schools Jazz Band, Concert Band, Senior Orchestra, Sixth Form Chamber Orchestra and Brass Group.

Initially, Bethany began playing cornet when she joined Dinnington Colliery Band in 2010, before moving to the 1st Horn position in 2013. Over the years she has travelled to many concerts, competitions and events with the band, including winning the Yorkshire Areas and competing in the Cheltenham National Championships in 2014. She also appeared with the band on BBC’s The One Show in 2012 as a celebration of Sheffield’s rich music history.

Also, Bethany has completed 6 courses as a member of the horn section in The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. In 2018, Bethany had the privilege of playing with the NYBB at the Barbican Centre, alongside the London Symphony Orchestra and London Symphony Chorus.

In April 2019, Bethany was selected to play 1st Horn for the European Youth Band in Montreux, Switzerland. This consisted of playing in 4 concerts, the final being held at the Auditorium Stravinsky for the European brass band championships. The event concluded with a joint concert between the EYBB and the Swiss Valasia Band.
